PS4 sells 50% of UK hardcopy games in 2017

For the first time in history a console manages to exceed such a percentage.

The dominance of PlayStation 4 in United Kingdom As far as the demand for physical software is concerned, it has been confirmed in 2017. According to data from UKIE and GfK Chart-Track, the main auditing entities of the British market, 50.2% of the copies of video games sold in the country corresponded to the Japanese system. For its part, Xbox One had 31.6% of the titles acquired; no Nintendo Switch data.


In this way PS4 managed to overcome the previous record dated in 1998, when the original PlayStation managed to conquer 47.9% of the business in the European state. In achieving this feat they have collaborated with their exclusive releases, with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, dominating the weekly top up to seven times, Persona 5, GT Sport, Horizon: Zero Dawn, WipEout: Omega Collection, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, etc.


What's more, always according to a report prepared by the Game Industry portal, the system's games dominated the ranking in up to fifteen weeks. Something that had not happened since the good times of Wii when it managed to accumulate 16 consecutive weeks of leadership in Nintendo hardware.
