At Codemasters they believe players will be able to drive F1 soon
The study specialized in speed titles defend that it will happen in the next 2 decades.
As part of the talk he had with 3DJuegos this morning, Lee Mather, Director of F1 2019 He said that he saw the moment when a gamer driver tests himself in a Formula 1 car.
"You say 10 or 20 years, I think that at the rate this eSports is going, it will be sooner rather than later," explained Mather, who noted that Codemasters is working to increase the popularity of F1 at the electronic sports level. "We have already seen players drive real race cars. I don't think it will be long before we see an eSports driver test himself in an F1 car. They have already had simulator experience, they have already driven other cars; we have seen players break through in real races, obviously not a single-seater [...] so I think it is closer to seeing an eSports driver, at least trying or experiencing what an F1 car is. "
New to F1 2019 this year include ingame leagues that will give multiplayer enthusiasts the tools to organize their competitions within the game, as well as a visible area of the main menu dedicated to esports. There will be the qualifying events, you can see the results of previous races, the leaderboards and you can also accumulate rewards. There will be multiple cosmetic items that can only be obtained by participating in the division of F1 eSports 2019.
F1 2019 will debut on June 28 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and will include, for the first time, Formula 2.
