Microsoft acknowledges that Crackdown 3 was announced "too soon"
A delay of the game until 2018 was recently announced.
Shannon Loftis, general manager of Microsoft Studios Publishing, admits to Polygon that "probably [Crackdown 3] was announced too soon." The game was originally planned to launch in 2016.
"We underestimate the challenge which means giving the size in all the modes of the game and making sure that it does what it should, ”explains Loftis. “We had to take extra time and be clear that we are giving Crackdown fans the game they expect. It was a difficult decision, especially since we had already announced the game.
Loftis also has words for the strategy of Xbox Ads in general. “I think we made mistakes in the past by announcing exclusives too early. We try to learn from that mistake and do better, so we have things in development that we will not talk about yet ”, although it does predict great experiences for Xbox fans in the coming years.
The development of Crackdown 3 is the result of the collaboration between Reagent Games, Sumo Digital and Cloudgine, and was originally announced in 2014. If the latest instructions from Microsoft are met, it would arrive on Xbox One and PC through Windows 10 in spring 2018 .
